Air Traffic Director's Welcome

Welcome to the Southern Region! Our region features 8 unique ARTCCs (Albuquerque, Kansas City, Memphis, Fort Worth, Jacksonville, Miami, Houston, and Atlanta ) that have something to offer everyone, regardless of skill level or interest in flight simulation. As I often tell my Air Traffic Managers, the Southern Region is, in my opinion, the most diverse region in VATUSA. After all, our region offers many different controlling challenges, from the slower paced, mountainous terrain in our northern most areas to the high traffic, heartlands in the eastern portion of our airspace. In addition, the Southern Region is proud to boast that 80% of our Air Traffic Managers have extensive real world piloting or air traffic experience.

While our knowledge of aviation is great, we pride ourselves in adapting to and welcoming any and all members, whether they have 4,000 hours in a real world Boeing 747 or two hours in a flight simulator's Cessna 172. It is our belief that all members, regardless of skill level, can gain invaluable knowledge from each other. Therefore, I sincerely hope that you take the time to visit the Southern Region, whether you do a simple flight through the airspace or decide to transfer in as a full time controller. I can guarantee that you'll have the experience of a lifetime.
