Blind Enthusiast Looking for Accessible VATSIM Client
« on: November 10, 2016, 09:32:33 AM »
Hello all,

I am a newcomer to the world of flight simulation, and am blind. I use the It's Your Plane system, in combination with Microsoft Flight Simulator X Steam Edition on Windows 10. I am looking for an accessible VATSIM client. I've tried VPilot, but it doesn't work well with my screen-reading software (JAWS for Windows from Freedom Scientific). The other clients mentioned on the VATSIM website seem like they are no longer under active development. I don't know if I'm just not accessing the program with the correct screen reader (as I could try it with NVDA [Non-Visual Desktop Access]), or if there is simply a different client I should try to use that supports the current VATSIM feature set/protocols. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tyler, welcome!

vPilot is the "go to" client for FSX-based platforms (FSX:SE, Prepar3D, and FSX). I don't have any experience with the other clients but would recommend trying to find a way to get vPilot working for you -- if that's at all possible.
