Purpose:

The VATSIM United States Division is looking for a motivated individual who will provide compelling and effective leadership and management of the VATUSA Air Traffic Training function.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Reports to the Division Director
  • Develop and deploy effective training programs for the division.
  • Manage and oversee the VATUSA training department.
  • Manage and lead divisional training programs to ensure an effective and efficient learning environment.
  • Monitor the performance, activity, and effectiveness of subdivision training programs and Training Administrators.
  • Review and Approve subdivision Training policies.
  • Ensure all divisional and subdivision training policies are compliant with VATSIM policies.
  • Maintain close communication with the Air Traffic Services department including the Deputy Director - Air Traffic Services and subdivision Senior Staff on training matters.
  • Oversee the Training Administrator hiring process and approve Training Administrator candidates.

  • Supports the VATSIM United States Division mission, vision and value statement
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Able to effectively lead in a team environment
  • Able to effectively lead others through influence, not direct reporting responsibility
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Considerable experience and success in a training role, ideally as a subdivision Training Administrator or any subdivision senior staff position
  • Active subdivision senior staff for over 12 months
  • Currently serving (preferred), or previously served, as an Instructor within VATUSA
  • Active member of the network in good standing for at least 12 months
  • No significant disciplinary record or history of unprofessional behavior

Desired Skills and Capabilities:

  • Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience (real world or VATSIM applicable) Demonstrated experience with the development and deployment of training programs
  • Demonstrated possession and utilization of a high degree of energy, commitment and dedication
  • Demonstrated qualities of understanding, patience, maturity
  • Currently actively serving as an ATC Instructor, holding a rating of Instructor (I1) or higher
