Indy Center is growing fast, and we're looking for experienced controllers to help. If you haven't looked at us in a while, now's a good time. There are openings across VATUSA point of contact roles, supporting staff, and training leadership. Specialist roles only require S2, and are open to visiting controllers.

Training Administrator

This role shapes how every controller at Indy Center learns to work the airspace. The TA reports to the ATM and VATUSA Deputy Director — Training Services and oversees the training department, including:

Creating and maintaining an approved Training Policy.
Creating and maintaining a certification curriculum, courses, and materials.
Appointing Mentors and recommending Instructors to VATUSA.
Administering controller certification and defining certification requirements.
Maintaining responsibility for all VATSIM ratings issued.
Additional responsibilities as defined by VATUSA policy.

Requirements

C1 (Active Instructor/Mentor preferred)
Experience as a Mentor or Instructor (VATUSA preferred)
Home roster membership, or willing to transfer.

Assistant Training Administrator

Supports the TA in managing day-to-day training department operations.

Course Lead

Own a specific area of our curriculum by developing, maintaining, and serving as the subject matter expert for your course. This is a good entry point if you want to grow into a larger training role. View our training catalog.

Facility Team Manager

The person who keeps our controller tools accurate and our airspace data trustworthy. The Facility Team Manager (VATUSA FE) leads the Facilities Team and reports to the DATM. Responsibilities include:

Coordinating with the ATM to maintain an approved Facilities Policy.
Developing and maintaining controller tools as defined in the Facilities Policy.

S3 Controller Rating (C1 preferred)
Experience with vNAS or technical writing
Home roster membership, or willing to transfer.

Events Team Manager

The face of Indy Center to the communities we partner with. The Events Team Manager (VATUSA EC) leads the Events Team and reports to the DATM. Responsibilities include:

Coordinating with the ATM to maintain an approved Events Policy.
Planning and executing facility events. View upcoming events.
Liaising with community pilots for requested ATC coverage.

Tech Specialist

As a member of the Tech Team, you'd be supporting the tools and platforms the Indy Center community runs on every day including the Indy Center website, ICT (Integrated Controller Tools), and the Indy Library. The team maintains a broad roadmap while keeping critical infrastructure running smoothly across services like Cloudflare, GitHub, Google Analytics, and Sentry. Most of the codebase is open source and written in TypeScript. This is a great opprotunity to gather realworld experience in software development under great mentors.

Basic working knowledge of Git and TypeScript

Facilities Specialist

As a member of the Facilities Team, you'd be maintaining the procedures and data that make controlling at Indy Center easy and realistic. This is a great starting point for anyone intrested in becoming a VATUSA Facilitiy Engineer.
